Christmas Gifts for Perverts

Gift giving can be incredibly stressful, but also a rush when you get it right. Allow me to recommend you some of my favourites.

For those at the beginning of their kink journey

There’s an awful lot of terrible BDSM starter kits out there. Sets of cuffs that fray upon the first use, floggers that shed, clothing that stains your skin or gives your rashes… enough to put anyone off. There’s a toy I have been using since day one, and is the single most effective tool in my arsenal. Claws. They are versatile, and depending on how much you sharpen them, very very mean. Choose ones that can be adjusted to fit your fingers with a little work, and are easy to clean and polish.

Watch your play thing go wild and you lightly drag them across their skin, or wince as your press the tips in. There is more potential in these little finger daggers than anything you’ll find at Ann Summers.

For the flogging enthusiast

Whilst impact play lovers might argue on what the best weight, material and shape of whacker is the best, one thing we can all agree on is that we want more. And whilst I adore caning, flogging is my first love, and are things of beauty. I am frankly just as excited at the aesthetics of a flogger as I am the function – therefore let me heartily recommend firebird leather, who’s floggers are works of art. One can easily spend hours ogling at the different colours, thicknesses, handles and textures – but she sells out pretty quickly, so don’t leave it to the last minute.

I’ve also waxed lyrical about Ramz of Wild_wierdo_creations, who makes floggers from reclaimed materials. I would desperately love to have their creations added to my own collection. They don’t hold a lot of stock but check out their instagram to see previous models.

For the partner who is both bonkers for leather and loves to be restrained.

Kink doesn’t have to be complicated to be good. If you like restraints/being restrained, then invest in a really good set of leather restraints, that fit well, with proper hardware, in a nice colour. I’m an advocate for buying cheap toys only when you are unsure if you like it – but once you do, there are so many options out there.

LAM has a lot of leather crafters exhibiting, and going to pick out a set together is a great experience, some of my favourite pieces at The Nest were purchased there.

I also recommend Fleet Illya for amazing quality restraints and harnesses.

For when they deserve to be immortalised

Whether a natural exhibitionist, or simply a deity in your eyes, send them to be pampered on a photoshoot with Tigz Rice. Tigz has never failed to make me look and feel like a Goddess, and whether you opt for a full private shoot day, or one of her more affordable shoot slots, it’s a brilliant way to show someone you think they are stunningly beautiful.

For when they want to delve deeper into Shibari

Shibari is one of those skills which you never stop learning, and having the opportunity to learn from others in person is a huge boon.

Burgundy Rose, who has both taught at Clwb Nawa, and blessed The Nest with a performance, regularly runs courses in Bristol, and also has gift vouchers for private lessons and tying experiences available. I can heartily vouch for them as a teacher and artist.

Alternatively, depending on where you are based, you may wish to look at Nexus or Anatomie Rope in London for a short course together.

For when you just want time together

I could hardly write a list of gift recommendations without recommending my own play room! The Nest is the perfect escape from the stresses of the outside world, and with all of it’s equipment at your disposal, you are free to get as naughty as your would like without fear of interruption!

This year I’ve had the most exquisite luxury envelopes printed, perfect for encasing a gift voucher – so much better than a forwarded email on Christmas Day! All you need to do is pop the physical add on to your card alongside the ‘digital’ voucher, and that’s Christmas sorted.
